“Ricorda dove il core e” (Remember where the heart is),  2024
presented in
TICINO IN DANCZA, Ticino

This performative community sharing develops from the cross-generation input from Stabio and the cross-cultural backgrounds of the artists. It investigates the fragmented time of memories, describes the map of a city’s affections, and weaves the knots where a collective future dwelling can be found.

Thanks to the festival's help,  we have collected a bunch of local responses from the community about their precious memories and imagination. In this shared space and experience, we share stories and histories, and together we make a wish for a possible “utopia”.

Ticino In Dancza Residency/Festival' 24

Ticino In Dancza is a community dance residency/festival in the Ticino area, Switzerland. Located at the boundary between Switzerland and Italy, It is a unique place with its hybrid culture. It is the only region in Switzerland speaking Italian.
As the website state, "In the three-year period 2022-2024 Ticino in Danza renews its format by experimenting with new types of encounters between artists and with the public."
We are a group of 7 artists from all over the world. Each of us carries our practices and values. Landing on this specific land, we took the first day as a warm-up, both the people and the landscape. Then in the next few days, we visit a diversity of spaces to share our work, including the psychic centre, a social space on a hill with local elderlies, a plaza, and even a museum. Every public space becomes a place for encounter.
Although we work individually, we take turns to share our practice with artists. And then we bring our collective work to various targeted audiences every day. We eat together, we drink together, and we dance together.

It is such an inspiring and heartwarming journey for me- Every day I wake up, I have a purpose.
And to create a community piece, first, we the team, should be a community first.”
